Property Conversions
A large proportion of our work over most recent years have been conversions. Since the planning laws changed and allowed offices to be converted to flats we have had large and small projects that would have been subject to hefty section 106 agreements in the past. The cost of which often made the conversion impractical.
One of our most successful projects is 105 Marine Drive, Rottingdean. This was an abandoned nursing home that had been used as a squat and was a big concern to the neighbours on either side.
We carried out a very sympathetic conversion to the existing building creating five luxury 2 bedroom flats, an attached terrace of three houses to the side and a new eco grass roof house to the rear. Even now the building is in superb condition and no external works have been needed to keep it this way.
We were nominated for an LABC award for the building and were finalists due to the quality of construction and the finish achieved. We have converted several of the properties above shops in Western Road, Brighton and Hove. Providing 2-4 flats depending on the number of floors and the layouts.
Our work is always in conjunction with Local Authority Building Control. Our relationship with Building Control is second to none and we have endorsements to the standard of our work from several Local Authorities.
MC Construction have also converted Cartwright House in Worthing from commercial to residential creating 8 new flats. In Burgess Hill we converted part of the rear of the shop next to Burgess Hill Inn into 6 flats to become part of Prospect House.
Our most current project is Massetts Road in Horley where we are converting a 3 storey office building to 21 dwellings, the works are almost complete and the building is being sold to a housing association (subject to contracts). The majority of our work has been for the same developers and the properties are usually rented through the company.
We have very little maintenance call backs once we hand over the buildings, generally we are only asked to redecorate or make repairs when tenants move out and they have not maintained the property as they should.
